SVG Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves received former Nigerian President – Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday at the #ArgyleInternationalAirport – #AIA.
Former President Obasanjo arrived at around 1:50 p.m.
Obasanjo is in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) on a special visit with President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank) Dr. Benedict Okey Oramah.
Former president Obasanjo is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves at La Vue Botique Hotel at Villa.
The visit comes as both dignitaries discussed reparations, Afro-Caribbean integration, international trade and other issues at a panel discussion in #Barbados.
It also comes after the official opening of Afreximbank regional headquarters, in #Barbados, on Friday.
The office will support the implementation of the Partnership Agreement between #Afreximbank and #CARICOM member states as well as the expansion of the #AfriCaribbean trade and investment relations.
Note: Guyana to host second AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum 2023: The second #AfriCaribbeanTradeandInvestmentForum (ACTIF23) will be hosted in #Georgetown, #Guyana, from 30 – 31 October 2023.
Organised under the overarching theme “Creating a Shared Prosperous Future”,and convened by Afreximbank and the GoG, #ACTIF23 will focus on consolidating commercial #collaboration between the #Caribbean region and #Africa, for increased inter-regional trade and investment; building on the successes of the inaugural edition that was held in Barbados, in September 2022.
Obasanjo and Oramah are scheduled to leave the State later on Saturday.
